Jay’s Kampala is a creation of the combined efforts of Trinidadian born/ American raised Joey S. and Jinja, Ugandan born Jimmy K. The boutique is physically located on William street, inside Equatorial Mall, Kampala.
Yes presently everything is custom made from accurate measurements you send us. We pride ourselves in creating beautiful clothing which fits all body types with precision.
We plan to have more Ready-To-Wear lines in the future.
Shipping takes 4-6 weeks conservatively. Keeping in mind that everything is custom made to each client we do our best to make each garment to the highest quality and standard. Therefore, it may take a bit longer than Ready-To -Wear shops. However we keep everyone informed about the progress and sometimes process of their creations. DHL is our shipping partner, they provide worldwide shipping networks with safety and security in this climate of porch piracy. DHL charges by weight , not flat rates.
Unfortunately, we do not accept returns and exchanges. However, due to our extraordinary customer care. We would be willing to work with you on a case by case basis. Keeping in mind each creation is custom made to the measurements you furnish us.
Absolutely, we can bring any idea from your mind to reality. At Jay’s we do everything! We would be happy to consult with you virtually or at the boutique to design your one of a kind creation. We take inspiration from everyone to make our clothing accessible, fun, sexy and modern.
It’s very important to have the measurements of your body correct, when having custom made garments.
For women those areas would include:
Shoulders
Bust area
Under the bust
Natural waist size
Highest hip point
Hip area
Front length of bodice
Back length of bodice
Full length measurement
Length of sleeves
For this a tape of measure will be needed.
You can take these measurements yourself however it’s sometime tricky and having a partner to help make it easier.
Starting with the shoulder, place the tape measure on the highest point on the side of the shoulder all the way over to the highest point on the other shoulder.
To measure bust area, wrap the tape measure around the highest point of your bust. Make sure you’re able to get a finger in the tape measure to have some space to move and give extra ease when the garment is completed.
To measure the under bust wrap the tape measure tightly under the bust.
To measure your natural waist find your belly button and wrap the tape measure around the waist.
The highest point is from the natural waist to the highest point on the hip
To measure the hip, wrap the tape measure around the highest point on the hip allow the tape measure to move up and down freely this would give more ease and freedom when the garment made.
Front length bodice, place to tape measure from the base of the neck to identify how long you want your body to be
Back length bodice, place a tape measure at the back of the neck base then determine how long you want the bodice to be.
Full length measure place to tape measure at the natural waist and determine how long you want the garment to be.
When measuring the sleeves tilt your elbows slightly placed the tape measure at the highest point of the shoulder and then identify how long you want the sleeve to be.
For men, it’s important to measure.
The chest
The waist
The sleeve
The neck
The inseam
Full length garment
To measure the chest, wrap the tape measure around the chest just under the armpits and make sure to leave a little bit of space for ease and comfort.
To measure the waist, wrap the tape measure around the waist of the belly button again leaving a little bit of space for ease and comfort.
To measure the sleeve, bend your elbow slightly and measure from the highest point of the shoulder all the way down to the wrist.
To measure the neck, wrap the tape measure around the neck under the Adam’s apple again leaving a bit of space for comfort.
To measure the inseam, take the tape measure from the crotch all the way down to the ankle.
To measure the full length takes the tape measure from the waist all the way down the leg to the ankle.
